I was born and raised in and around
Marin County, California just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Currently living in the greatest city in the country, San Francisco,
California.
After graduating from Redwood High
School in 1988 I attended College of Marin for one year and then moved
to Newport Beach to attend Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa and
to be part of the O.C.C. Rowing Crew. After returning to my
hometown area in 1991 I went back to College of Marin for a short
period and then after some time, I eventually enrolled at Silicon
Valley College in Walnut Creek to study Network Systems Administration.
Starting in 1998 I became involved with a private contractor and set
up basic networks for small companies and then decided to get
serious about Network Systems Admin career. I took on various jobs involving
computers, but what truly sparked my interest for them again was
Linux and other UNIX-based operating systems. I had found
my passion and along with truly enjoying computers I realized that
I wanted my career to be involved around computers.
For about several years
I worked as a Network Manager (Network
Administrator) for Holy Names University, located in the Oakland
hills. This position involved administration
of all systems including application, file, mail, and web servers.
The environment was a Windows network but included Linux servers
running Apache web server. At HNU I quickly learned to be
a jack of all trades and learn everything I could along with experimenting
as much as possible.
I have worked in the Information
Technology field for the past nine plus years. My passion
for computers was started in 1984 when my father bought me a Timex
Sinclair computer and then later on a Texas Instruments computer.
In 1985 I played the text based game Zork, for those who remember,
and first experienced the "internet" when I connected
to BBS' (bulletin board systems) through a 1200 baud modem.
I have been doing consulting on an off since 1998 and even did
occasional jobs while working at Holy Names.
I now work for myself as an
independent contractor in the Bay Area. I support several
different companies from small to medium size businesses by
providing complete I.T. solutions.
